Gay Straight Whatever Alliances
GSWA is IA’s version of Gay Straight Alliances organizations as they exist in schools nationwide. As part of our quest to provide a safe school environment not only for lgbt students but also everyone else, we are supporters of uniqueness and believe strongly that being one’s self should not be reason for discrimination or bullying, something that, sadly, still happens quite frequently at high schools.
Every year, we organize an event called Day of Silence, which seeks to raise awareness of the silence of students who cannot express who they are because of the bullying going on in schools and ignorance and prejudice towards lgbt students. We want that at our school, students can be themselves without having to fear such discrimination.
Some of the things we do in addition to that include:

raise awareness

discussions on lgbt issues

fundraisers for human rights charities

provide help and counseling for students

have fun !
