Physical Education/Adventure Challenge

This is a non-traditional physical education class. It generally follows the curriculum of Adventure Education, which seeks to combine physical challenges with physical development. Students will engage in non-competitive games and physical problem solving activities, focused on developing team-work skills and Recreation Activities. This is not just another traditional gym class, but rather it seeks to include many aspects of personal health and well-being with physical challenges as well. From time to time, students may choose sexuality topics or issues for debate, oratory or research projects. If parents object to such topics being discussed, please notify the school, in writing, and we will exclude your child, without penalty, from such classroom sessions.

In this class students will explore the development and maintenance of a positive healthy lifestyle. Some of the topics that will be included are alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use/addiction; sexual harassment; HIV/AIDS; and human sexuality. From time to time, students may choose sexuality topics or issues for debate oratory or research projects. If parents object to such topics being discussed, please notify the school, in writing, and we will exclude your child, without penalty, from such classroom sessions.
