Okma Weekly Message November 13, 2020
Greetings IA Families,
While we are sad to have to resort to 100% remote learning at this time, we are confident that "we got this". We've been here, we have worked out the issues. Keeping us all healthy and safe is the most important. Here are some of the tips we included back in September.
We are starting our second week of virtual school, and kids and teachers though a bit bleary eyed from all the screen time, are doing fantastic. It'd be a good idea to remind the kids to take a break from the screen, get outside as soon as the school day concludes and get some sunshine provided vitamin D and fresh air. (Raking leaves comes to mind ;) - That will go a long way to rejuvenating. Some kids hit some hiccups logging in at times. Our recommendation is to start each morning with a fresh reboot of their device. Please ensure the following if your child hits a snag.
Start with a fresh reboot of your device each morning.
Sign into google with your bloomfield.org email.
Sign into zoom using the Google Grid and scrolling to the bottom until you see the Zoom app icon
confirm that it is going to bloomfield-org.zoom.us
and then Click on the IA Canvas App in your google grid and go to your class.
Be careful to select the one that has IA in the name - the other is for BHHS.
Parents, be sure to check out our Families page on the School Life tab of iatoday.org There you will find answers to many of your technology related questions including how to get the QR mobile login for the CANVAS app for your phone.
Students have been advised to use this form to report issues as completely as possible since the occasional email that states " I couldn't access..." without any further info as to what or where is not the most efficient method to get issues resolved (LOL). So, if your student has trouble, remind them of this form. Parents can report issues there too. It can also be found on our Quick Links for Students page under the School Life tab of our website.
Parents may be receiving notifications of assignments. If the assignment is a google doc, parents will not have access. Parents can customize their notification settings in their CANVAS account by clicking on notifications. This is highly recommended.
Seniors Families! Please be sure to check the senior portrait information that has been posted at the bottom of this page!
