Okma Weekly Message September 6, 2019
Greetings IA Community,
C-Day is Wednesday, September 11th. In remembrance and service, we will spend the day building community, appreciating new experiences, and supporting our neighbors. The school day will begin and end at the usual time. Breakfast will be provided beginning at 7:15. 9th and 10th graders will stay on campus to complete service projects, being creative and active while 11th and 12th graders board buses for their service experiences. We thank you for your support of this day for giving back and continuing to grow as a school community. Please ask your child how they feel about the upcoming C-Day, what they did after the day happens, and keep an eye out for updates on social media!
Here is a complete list of places we will be serving:
Cass Community, Detroit Prep, O'Hair Park Association, Forgotten Harvest Farms, North Oakland Headwaters Land Conservancy,Cards for Hospitalized Kids, Meals on Wheels, Gleaners: Warren, Forgotten Harvest, Lighthouse, Christ the King, Neighbors Building Brightmoor
DROP-OFF/PICK-UP CONCERNS We are concerned about student safety while crossing Square Lake Rd. While we realize the drop off and pick up takes some time and patience, it is never OK to drop the child off across the street or park and wait on the side of the road to pick up. We would much rather have your child arrive late than not at all due to an accident. The police have and will again be on alert to ticket anyone stopping or driving on the shoulder or utilizing the neighborhood as a drop off. The lines will move much quicker if drivers move up all the way to the front of the circle so as many car loads can disembark at once and the kids are ready with all their gear and hop out as quickly as possible. Car pool lists are available on the board across from the main office. Less cars would equal shorter lines! Let's keep the lines moving and keep our kids safe!
Welcome Back Dance Tonight The Welcome Back Dance is tonight from 7-10 in the ISC. The theme is Glow in the Dark. Tickets are available at the door for $15.
Next Friday the 13th is a Phone Free Friday! Kids will be asked to stay off their phones for the entire day.
